Wedding Dresses and Such…

My cousin, Kelly, had a “Tag, You’re It” thing today on her blog to show your wedding dress.
I usually don’t do this sort of thing, but since it’s almost our anniversary I thought it might be fun!

This is a picture from our wedding (17 Years Ago on August 2nd!) with Scott’s grandparents, and one set of mine. The other set (Martin grandparents) had gone on to the reception I think.
(This isn’t the best picture, but my scanner is on the blink at the moment and I’m anxiously awaiting the new one that Scott bought yesterday.)

Here is the missing set of grandparents with my cousins (Chris, Kelly, Molly, Jackson) and my brother.

We didn’t have a professional photographer… Well, funny story there. My grandma had suggested a friend of hers that was a “professional photographer.” We were 21 and trying to save mom some money so we thought that sounded great. After the wedding he ran off to the reception and we didn’t actually have anyone to take pictures! So, all the pictures we have of the wedding are from friends who were kind enough to send copies. Moral of that story is HIRE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER!
I loved my dress, it was a poofy tulle skirt with a beaded bodice. It wasn’t expensive, and I definitely wouldn’t pick it if I was getting married now, but it was perfect. My veil was made in Panamá. It is tembleque (a Panamanian traditional hair ornament made from corvina scales and pearls) that we had sewn into a veil.
I can’t believe Scott and I have been married almost 17 years! I am the luckiest lady to have him for a partner and best friend!

Beginnings

I decided to try and start a blog just for recipes from my blog and musings about food! Stay tuned for more…

Happy Birthdays!

Happy Birthday to my brother, Kenneth and cousin, Caralee! (And Happy Anniversary, Kenneth & Valerie!)

Hope you both have beautiful days filled with many smiles!

Last week…

This past week:

  • Terri and Joel visited! Yay! Miss you already, chica. (Why can I never get pics when you come?)
  • A week for the dentists to take my money. First J and E had dental appointments (including orthodontist for the big one.)
  • M had to be “put under” at Children’s Hospital. He had three crowns and multiple fillings. The dentist pulled two wiggly teeth that were hanging on while he was in there so now he looks like a toothless pirate with all those silver teeth. We had THE BEST anesthesiologist and dentist. With Mastocytosis you have to be very careful what drugs you’re given or you could have many problems (such as a rash, anaphalactic shock, or death…) It was hilarious because we were there from 9am til 5pm, and waiting around most of the time for them to make sure they were going to give him the right meds. While I was consulting with the docs he took some great pics!

  • More money disappeared as I bought school supplies for the big 2. I thought I paid taxes for this?
  • I had 2, (yes, 2) “Girl’s Night Outs!” Friday- Book Club with wonderful African food hosted by Christi. Saturday- Recipe/Restaurant Club at Ya Ya’s . I’m working on a blog for that club so I’ll post when I get it up.
  • Saw the latest Harry Potter movie. I wasn’t thrilled. I am a big HP fan and still, not impressed. It was so long, and not enough fantastical fun as in the other movies. (I like moving paintings, funny food, giant animals, etc.) It also made me realize how much J.K. likes J.R.R. And the lake of fire was like Dragonslayer wasn’t it?
  • Today- First day of school for the oldest 2. (noooooooo!)
My 2nd & 7th graders

Last day of summer (or Nooooo!)

Today is the official last day of summer for my kids! I am so bummed. They start back on Monday and are not happy about it. We spent the day with grandma and cousins downtown- Heifer Project, Arkansas Game and Fish aquarium, Museum of Discovery. Fun for all!
The highlight for the boys was seeing the piranhas devour a frozen mouse. Yummo.
We go to our Open House at school tomorrow and then I guess I’ll decide whether or not to put in the homeschool papers like the kids are begging me for.
