On the way home from taking sis to dance the boys told me they wanted to go practice soccer.
I couldn’t believe it pass it up so I pulled off at the soccer complex to let them run.
Life is getting so complicated lately.
We have to catch those fun moments whenever we can.
High School choices, dance almost every day, soccer 2-3 nights a week, school…
I feel my chauffeur role expanding.
Emily got accepted in two summer intensive programs at Joffrey in NYC and one in Atlanta. She really wanted to go to NYC but it’s so expensive and she has time. (Think we might take a trip with her dance studio to NYC anyway, so that will be more fun! )
I’m joining in on the last foto Friday!

My honey went to Chicago on Sunday for a meeting and got stranded in “The Blizzard of 2011.”
He finally got home last night and had these pictures to show us.

I guess he brought the snow with him, because about 8am it started snowing here and hasn’t stopped yet. The kids were happy because it means another snow day!

I am in the mood to clean up.
I managed to go through my clothes closet and then,
this weekend the kitchen.
I am a complete kitchen hoarder and this was not so easy for me but…
I went through every drawer and cabinet! (10 bags of stuff to the thrift shop!)
The cake pans that I kept (but don’t use often) I took pictures of and will put in a file so I know what I have (just in case.) You know, those wedding cake pans, teddy bear, car, and bunny pans? I put them over my fridge in a strange cabinet I can’t reach easily. If I don’t use them in a year or so I’ll probably get rid of them.
Feeling better already.
Started on paperwork, might give up and go to the boys’ bedroom… Oh the joy.

Big kiddo is auditioning for two ballet companies for their summer intensive programs. One is in NYC and one in Chicago. We had to have pictures of her in first arabesque, and I had no idea taking ballet pictures would be so difficult. We did manage to get several good ones despite my ineptitude with my camera skills…

The snow is gone here.
Well, actually they say some might be coming today, but I doubt it…
I took these pics (last week) while driving my kids to their science class at the 4H center in the country.
The sad thing is that it’s not really the country anymore.
Suburbs are oozing out that way. I noticed these woods, these sacred ones we always sigh when we go through (well, the kids are yelling “Go faster, it’s the roller coaster part!” over the bumps) had a big FOR SALE sign in them.
My heart dropped out of me, even without the bumps.
On the way back I saw a HUGE red fox slink across the road and into the woods.
Made me feel like quoting the morose Miss Emily D…
There’s a certain Slant of light,
Winter Afternoons–
That oppresses, like the Heft,
Of Cathedral Tunes–
Heavenly Hurt, it gives us–
We can find no scar,
But internal difference,
Where the Meanings, are–
None may teach it–Any–
‘Tis the Seal Despair–
An imperial affliction
Sent us of the air–
When it comes, the Landscape listens–
Shadows–hold their breath–
When it goes, ’tis like the Distance
On the look of Death–
Emily Dickinson, Poem 258
Come join in on the fun!

“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. was one amazing man.

My son had a disturbing dream the other night.
He said he was in a land like TRON, but he was green and there were green and blue people. He said it was horrible because he was friends with a blue person and they put him and his friend in jail because people of different colors weren’t allowed to be friends. They had to escape and run away and he fought for the laws to change. “It was like those dumb Crow laws in the olden days, mom.”
Sometimes you think they aren’t listening, but they always are.
